Straight Forward

"Straight Forward" is a duel game inspired by "Nidhogg" taking place in a futuristic train.

This game has been realised during my third year with my team, the biggest difficulty was to work with a multiplayer system for the first time.

ABOUT :

  • Developed in 12 weeks during my 3rd year

  • Made in UE4

  • Multiplayer game inspired by Nidhogg

My Work :

  • Level Design

  • Game Design

  • Animation Blueprint

  • Blueprint

         What have I done ?

I created train car Level Design with some that made it to the production (like the kitchen car) and worked on the metrics in order to have a fun playable area.

After the LD, I coded the shoot with the Design of Antoine Fellous (fellow student) and created the "shoot through" system.

We lacked animators in the team so I also worked on the animation blueprint.

The Challenge :

Starting this project, we discovered how multiplayer works with the replication, It's what created a lot of problem during production.

Everything added on the project had to be replicated, one player was the "parent" while the other was the "child" and this "child" had to get every replicated informations.

Another difficulty with replication was the lag that the "child" had, to reduce it, we had to optimize as much as possible our blueprint.

The train was a Level Design constraint that was given to us at the start of the pre-production.

This is the metrics of the game I've worked on before creating the wagons, every elements in the wagons had to respect the dimensions of these metrics.
